University of Southampton, for all my University qualifications
Doctorate, Masters Degree and an Undergraduate Degree
I'm a research fellow at the university of Southampton, exploring way to reduce the fuel use associated with everyday driving.
Dr. Craig K. Allison, is a Research Fellow, working in the Human Factors Engineering team, University of Southampton. Craig was awarded his PhD in Web Science (Psychology) from the University of Southampton in 2016. Craig received his M.Sc in Web Science from the University of Southampton in 2011, and his B.Sc in Psychology in 2009, also from the University of Southampton. Prior to joining the Human Factors team, Craig’s primary research background was spatial psychology and orientation within both real and digital environments. With a focus on empirical analysis, Craig has extensive experience running research trials with human participants and working in multidisciplinary teams.
Since joining the Human Factors team in October 2015, Craig has worked on both aviation and automotive projects. Craig’s current research focus is developing in-vehicle interfaces to encourage drivers to behave in a more environmentally conscious and fuel-efficient manner, as part of the G-Active project. Craig is looking forward to implementing the developed interventions into the simulator to examine the impact of the developed interventions on overall fuel efficiency. After seeing the impact technology can have in transforming individuals lives, Craig is hopeful that technology can be used to transform our relationship with our environment.
My Typical Day: It's mixed! Sometimes I'm working in my office, or in our driving simulator, or presenting our research to large audiences
My career path: I had a very strange entrance to engineering. My undergraduate degree is in Psychology, I have a Web Science Masters and a Psychology PhD. After finishing my PhD, I was given the opportunity to work in engineering as part of the Human Factors team at the University of southampton, where we consider not only the technology, but how people use and interact with that technology.
